INDIGO GOES GLOBAL
Increasingly businesses exist in a global economy where intercultural communication is becoming a real must. In a shrinking world, language is crucial for successful communication and one of the most effective ways to address a worldwide audience is in their local language. Recently Newcastle based, newmedia agency Indigo have been developing a number of exciting cross cultural web sites on behalf of regional and national clients.
McNulty Offshore Construction Ltd, who have a reputation as one of the UKs foremost offshore oil and gas fabricators, turned to Indigo to help them understand and develop strong relationships with international customers through the internet. Recognising the potential opportunities, McNulty commissioned a brand new web site that not only refreshes their image and reflects the quality of the brand, but also communicates to a wider audience. The site will be multilingual within the next few weeks and will incorporate a number of languages including Mandarin, Spanish and Russian.
McNulty whose impressive client list includes, Maersk Oil UK, Shell, Texaco and Amec, have a keen eye on reaching a truly international market with the launch of the new site. In an ever changing market place they see global positioning as being integral to their future success. Ed Wylie, Business Development Manager at McNulty, is keen to embrace new opportunities “We operate in a very competitive market and whilst we have experience of working in countries such as Norway and Canada; we are now looking further a field to develop markets in China and Russia” He goes on to add “We are delighted with the approach taken by Indigo, both in the design and delivery of our websites and we are encouraged by the possibilities for our future growth and our new found ability to communicate to a wider market”.
Over the next few years McNulty expect to see a dramatic increase in the need for their floating production supply units to service world wide industry changes. The web strategy Indigo developed is integral in meeting this expected global demand.
Indigo, Technical Developer David Arthur, commented “there were a number of challenges in catering for the use of so many different languages; we had to develop a very robust content management system to accommodate the variety of character sets and nuances in language use”. He adds “we are confident the sites will communicate the right message and the strong combination of language and imagery will reinforce the depth and breadth of McNulty’s experience”.
