Indigo's THINKfootball Lines Up for an Award

A unique e-learning game developed by Indigo Multimedia has put the company in line for a top prize at The North East Chamber Awards 2006.
THINKfootball, which was commissioned by Adidas in collaboration with Newcastle United Football Club, has been shortlisted for The Microsoft Award for Innvovation Through Technology.

Created for use in Newcastle United Learning Centre and local schools, THINKfootball is an interactive web-based learning game to help children aged 9-13 years improve their numeracy and literacy skills and encourage out-of-hours learning.

Using football as the basis, the user adopts the role of football manager taking control of the NUFC football team for a season. Through a series of learning activities the player's aim is to get their team to the top of a fantasy league.

To promote out of hours learning at home, Indigo created an in-game message system - using SMS texting - updating users with match facts and league positions throughout the week.

Ryan Foster, project manager at Indigo said: "We're delighted that THINKfootball has been nominated for such a prestigious award. We've already had fantastic feedback from the pupils using this learning game so to receive recognition from the industry is the icing on the cake."
