Traffic Doubles in the North East of England

Indigo Multimedia, a leading New Media Agency based in Newcastle, has completed the first phase of a substantial web design and development project for North East Chamber of Commerce.

The company completely overhauled the Chamber’s existing website and following the recent re-launch it is already proving to be a big hit with traffic to the site having doubled from 20,000 per month to 40,000.

“Our previous website had limitations in terms of updating information efficiently and effectively for our members,” said Kelly Deary, marketing manager at NECC. “One of the major things Indigo has done is to develop a tailor-made enterprise wide content management system for us which fits in perfectly with our existing IT infrastructure.”

Ryan Foster, project manager at Indigo said: “We’ve worked very closely with NECC to improve the functionality of its website.  It is key for them to provide members with up-to-date information so we developed a relatively unique feature within the content management system which gives each specialist department within NECC ownership of their section of the website.

“For example, if the policy team at NECC need to inform members of important new changes or if the events team want to post details of forthcoming exhibitions, workshops, etc. they can do it themselves almost at the touch of a button without relying on another department.”

NECC is now considering future developments for its website.  “The website has already massively improved and I think the response from our members proves this.  However, there is a lot more that could be done to make it more transactional and this will be the next step of this ongoing development programme,” said Kelly Deary.
